Chairing a review meeting with the officials of local bodies, town planning, revenue and forest departments, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said as per section 4, the area falling under PLPA should be kept protected as per the forest department’s mandate.

“The delisted area should not impact the area under the PLPA, so it will be the joint responsibility of all the departments, particularly local bodies and town planning, to deal with the requisite permissions carefully. It would also be ensured that no commercial activity is carried out in delisted areas,” she added.

The administration officials said the hotspot areas identified by the forest department in the Majri and Nayagaon would be taken care of well and no violation would be allowed here.

“Regular monitoring in the delisted areas would be done. Any activity should not negatively impact the PLPA regulations,” the DC said

He added that it is the responsibility of local bodies and town planning to protect the PLPA area from construction activities in the wake of growing urbanisation. The DC also asked the committee formed for Mirzapur comprising Naib Tehsildar Majri, Range Officer Forest and the SHO concerned to inspect the violation and initiate the legal proceedings against any violators.
