Punjab’s first Equestrian Festival kicked off at Karoran village today. The event is being organised by the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department and the Mohali Administration.

Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Taranpreet Singh Sond attended the musical evening marking the inaugural day.

He said this two-day festival would see participation by around 250 Marwari and Nukra breed horses from Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.

Among the competitions and events held today, Team Lance Tent Pegging, Six Bar Jumping, Sword Individual Tent Pegging, Horse Dance and Fashion Show were major attractions.

Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said this first attempt of the district administration had been quite successful. Punjab MLAs Dr Charanjit Singh Channi and Amritpal Singh Sukhanand said that was a great initiative of the Punjab Government to promote heritage sports in Punjab.
