ESI Hospital often refuses treatment: Labour association chief

Shailendar, who works in a private factory at Industrial Area, Phase 8-B, sustained injuries on his fingers today following which he went to ESI Hospital, Industrial Area, Phase 7, for treatment.
Doctors referred him to GMCH-32, Chandigarh, without providing any treatment.
Jasbir Singh, chief, Mohali Industries Labour Law Association, said, “The ESI Hospital charges employees every month, but during the need of the hour, the hospital often refuses treatment. If Shailendar was treated at the ESI Hospital, he didn’t need to pay a single penny from his pocket.”
Dr Darshan Singh, Senior Medical Officer (SMO), ESI Hospital, said, “I am not aware of this. We have all the facilities to treat such kind of patients. We assure to reimburse the cost of his treatment.” — TNS
