Event on road safety rules held at Panchkula schools

In line with the annual plan of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Panchkula, and under direction of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) Amit Dahiya, the traffic police organised a special awareness workshop on traffic rules. The workshop was held at Sarthak Senior Secondary School, Sector 12-A, and Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 6.

Inspector Sunil Kumar, SHO (Traffic), Panchkula, along with his team, conducted sessions at schools. The team educated schoolchildren on the importance of following traffic rules. The initiative aimed to instil traffic discipline among students and raise awareness to help them grow into responsible citizens.

While addressing students, Inspector Sunil Kumar emphasised that road safety was directly linked to personal safety. He said, “If we follow traffic rules, many accidents can be prevented.” Key points discussed included wearing helmets even while riding pillion on a two-wheeler, using zebra crossings, fastening seat belts and adhering to traffic signals.

Using real-life examples, the police team explained how small acts of negligence could result in major accidents. Students enthusiastically participated in the programme, posed several questions and received clear, easy-to-understand answers from police officials. Children were also encouraged to spread awareness of traffic rules among their family members.

The programme not only imparted essential knowledge about road safety, but also strengthened a sense of discipline and responsibility among students. At the end of the session, all students took a pledge to follow traffic rules. Teachers, head constable Neeraj, drill instructor Sandeep and other staff members were present during the event.
