Prof BN Datta, former Dean PGIMER and former Head of Department of Histopathology, passed away on Wednesday. His body has been donated to the Department of Anatomy for research and teaching purposes.

Born in Jhelum in 1933, Prof Datta was the first faculty to join the Department of Pathology, PGIMER, in 1963 and headed the department from 1978 till retirement in 1993. Thereafter he worked in Bahrein and then as a consultant pathologist in Chandigarh.
