Panchkula, February 19
The police team investigating the salon extortion case will send the recovered mobile phone of former SHO Ravi Kant Sharma to Haryana Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) at Madhuban in Karnal district for detailed analysis. Suspended Inspector Sharma was sent back to 14-day judicial custody as two days of police remand ended today.
Vijay Deswal, who is leading the investigation, said, “The phone of the former SHO is sealed. It will soon be sent to the FSL in Madhuban.” On Monday, he was brought from the Ambala Central Jail on production warrants and subsequently his two-day remand was granted to the police.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court had on February 3 dismissed Sharma’s anticipatory bail plea. On February 13, he surrendered in the local court. A chargesheet was filed against another accused in the case, Homeguard Jashan Lal, on February 5 in the court of ACJM Hitesh Garg. Pankaj Sharma, the complainant, who runs a salon at Mansa Devi Complex, Sector 5 market, had alleged that the accused used to extort money from the woman manager of the salon and pass vulgar comments at her. — TNS
