Zirakpur, July 29
Potholes, sewage, waterlogging, broken tiles and construction debris greet visitors to VIP Road here.
Heavy vehicles, dump trucks and tractor-trailers can also be seen plying on the busy road, adding to the woes of the commuters. Residents say it has been ages since it looked like a decent road.
Rain worsens situation
Whenever it rains, the situation becomes precarious as water accumulates on the road. Deep potholes make driving difficult and also increase wear and tear of vehicles.
“Sewer water spills on to the road here. A couple riding a two-wheeler lost balance due to the potholes and fell on the road. The expectant woman, who was riding pillion, was shifted to a clinic for first aid. The stretch from Hermitage Society to South City is in shambles,” said Vinod Puri, a resident.
Residents alleged that the Zirakpur Municipal Corporation, PWD officials, sitting MLA and the ruling party have done anything to improve the situation here.
