Expedition to mark TA platinum jubilee

To mark it’s Platinum Jubilee, the Territorial Army (TA) is conducting an adventure expedition, which was flagged off from the Veer Smriti War Memorial in Chandimandir Military Station for its onward journey to National War Memorial, New Delhi. The expedition, which commenced from the formidable terrain and the icy heights of Siachen Glacier, the world’s highest battlefield, has traversed through some of the most challenging and diverse landscapes, and will culminate at Indira Point, the southernmost tip of India. It includes cycling, sailing and scuba diving.
The expedition team arrived at Chandigarh after covering a distance of 865 km traversing through Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
The team of cyclists, led by Major Abhinav Rawat, comprises two officers, three junior commissioned officers and 16 other ranks from various units.
Enroute, the team interacted with local population, ex-servicemen and war heroes. They also carried out various activities to motivate the youth to join the Indian Army and promote spirit of adventure and tree plantation.
