Experts discuss trauma airway management at PGI event
The PGIMER concluded its transformative Continuing Medical Education (CME) on ‘Airways in Trauma Emergency,’ titled ‘It’s not about passing the tube; it’s about style’ today. The event was organised by the Trauma Anaesthesia team of Department of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care, PGI.
It drew an impressive turnout of healthcare professionals committed to advancing their expertise in trauma airway management, emphasising the critical need to providing oxygen in crashing trauma victims on arrival to hospital. During the day, a series of thought-provoking sessions led by Airway Leads of All India Difficult Airway Association, a team committed towards research and advancement in this important stream were held.
Topics addressed included trauma physiology, practical airway challenges, advanced intubation techniques and engaging video sessions.
Prof Kajal Jain, a central figure at the seminar and an authority on airway management, highlighted the intricate demands of high stakes emergency situations. “In emergency airway management, team building is extremely important as all steps work on life-saving manoeuvres and hence need to be performed in a coordinated manner. The course was designed to empower frontline workers in emergency room with the skills necessary to deliver life-saving care, thus significantly impacting patient outcomes,” said Dr Jain during her presentation.
Participants also engaged with advanced simulation models, fostering an educational environment that promoted collaboration, Q&A sessions and peer-to-peer learning. The course concluded with a valedictory session emphasising necessity for ongoing education in trauma care.
