Experts dwell on NDPS Act

The Patiala police organised a seminar on the provisions of NDPS Act, 1985, which was attended by various gazetted officers and magistrates.

Ritu Punj, former Additional Advocate General, Punjab, delivered a lecture where she briefed officials of various departments about the provisions of the Act and added that the move is aimed at strengthening the fight against drugs.

Patiala SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu also briefed the officers and said that teams comprising of SHO-level police officers, backed by the CIA and Anti-Narcotics Cell units, have been working 24×7 to implement the government’s campaign to wipe out drugs from the state.

“Various State Special Operations (SSOP) cells have also joined the drive and the civil administration was also extending its full support to the anti-drugs campaign,” Sidhu stated.

Meanwhile, Deputy District Attorney, Patiala, Anmoljit Singh, elaborated on various provisions of the NDPS Act and urged officials from various departments to play active role in the clampdown against drug abuse.
