Fatehgarh Sahib, December 10

Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh, in collaboration with Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, High Commission of India, Colombo, organised an international webinar on ‘Understanding Sikhism and virtues of care, compassion and kindness’ to acquaint people with sublime principles and preachings of Sikhism.

Dr Rewant Vikram Singh, Director, Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, was the chief guest. Dr Shalini Gupta, Vice-Chancellor of the university, unfolded the theme of the webinar.

He deliberated on the ideals of Sikhism and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev. He said the followers of Guru Nanak were from all faiths and religions and he addressed them all without any discrimination.

Zora Singh, Chancellor of the university, highlighted how Guru Nanak Dev travelled the whole world on foot. He discussed Guru Nanak Dev’s teachings such as faith in one true god, worship and recital of his name, and the necessity of Guru in pursuing the path to God.

Dr Tejinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor, Daya Dissanayake, Eminent Novelist, poet and blogger from Sri Lanka, Satish Kumar Verma, Prof Emeritus, and Prof Rawail Singh, former head, Department of Punjabi, University of Delhi, also addressed the gatherings.
