Experts highlight role of positive attitude, work-life balance in disease management
Over 800 doctors from across the country participated in a conference organised by the Sweet Diabetes Foundation in Chandigarh, focusing on obesity, diabetes and stress.
The event was graced by General VP Malik (Retd), former Chief of Army Staff, who served as the chief guest. In his address, Malik emphasised the crucial role doctors play in nation-building and recalled their significant contributions during the Kargil War.
Lt Gen Narendra Kotwal also spoke at the conference, underlining the importance of maintaining work-life balance, practising gratitude, and nurturing both physical and mental health. He noted that true happiness stems from caring for oneself while continuing to serve others.
Leading medical experts, including Dr Sanjay Phadke and Dr Vaishali Deshmukh, discussed the impact of a positive attitude and hope on the healing process, highlighting how optimism can significantly improve outcomes for patients battling serious illnesses.
The conference also featured discussions on emerging treatment options for obesity and diabetes remission. Eminent doctors from across India explored how newer therapies are enabling significant weight loss without the need for surgery — outcomes previously achievable only through bariatric procedures.
The event concluded with a call for continued innovation, compassion, and resilience in tackling the growing burden of lifestyle diseases.
