The University School of Sciences celebrated National Science Day at Rayat Bahra University here today. On the first day of the celebrations, an innovation contest for women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) was held.
The programme was supported by the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST), the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) and the Union Department of Science and Technology (DST).
During the inaugural ceremony, Dr Harvinder Kaur, Dean, University School of Sciences, told the audience about the significance of National Science Day celebrations. Prof Daljit Sigh, Vice-Chancellor, motivated the participants by highlighting the role of women in science and technology.
Dr Shweta Sharma, Chairperson of the Institute of Forensic Science and Criminology, PU, laid emphasis on the participation of more female students in different areas of STEM.
