Fake drug factory unearthed, 1.4 kg opium, three pistols, Rs 2.5L seized from gangster
The police claims to have unearthed a fake unit of drugs used as steroids and supplements in Zirakpur after the questioning of gangster Lavish Grover and his accomplice Gurpreet Singh.
On March 21, 2025, a police party after a brief encounter had arrested an accused Lavish Grover from Shiva Enclave near Singhpura, Zirakpur. He had fired three rounds from his pistol when the police knocked at his door. In retaliation firing by the police, he got injured on his leg. After searching his flat, a police party led by Zirakpur SHO Jaskanwal Singh Shekhon recovered 400 gram of opium, Rs 2.5 lakh drug money apart from illegal weapons and ammunition.
Upon further interrogation, Grover revealed that he had handed over some quantity of opium and an illegal weapon to his accomplice Gurpreet Singh of Shere village in Sangrur.
On receiving a tip-off, the police reached a flat in Orbit Apartment, Opposite Triple C Mall, VIP Road, Zirakpur, and arrested Gurpreet Singh (28) after recovering 800 gm of opium and a pistol with two magazines and 12 live rounds, Mohali SSP Deepak Pareek said.
A unit of fake drugs/supplements was unearthed from Shiva Enclave near Singhpura, Zirakpur, said Zirakpur DSP Jaspinder Singh. The big haul of fake drugs/supplements included 1,24,600 tablets and 1, 75,000 injection, besides five types of packing and filling machinery, he said. The haul contained 35 types of drugs misused as anabolic steroids, he added.
“Drugs have been handed over to Drug Control Officers for further investigation and filing a case as per the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetic Act,” the DSP said.
About the recovery from the accused Lovish Grover, alias Lavi, the police said a pistol with a magazine and four live rounds, one pistol with magazine and two live cartridges, a 12 bore double barrel gun with 16 live rounds, one car bearing Chandigarh registration number, one car bearing Delhi registration number and one more car bearing UP registration number were recovered from him.
Zirakpur SHO Jaskanwal Singh Shekhon said Lovish had a criminal past with 10 FIRs registered against him under heinous crime, the Drug and Cosmetic Act, the Arms Act and others at SBS Nagar, Ludhiana and Mohali. Lovish was undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital in Dera Bassi, he said.
