Fans groove as Karan Aujla casts magic spell at Exhibition Ground

The city echoed with the thunderous beats of Punjabi music as it played host to the highly anticipated concert of singer Karan Aujla. The energetic crowd, comprising fans of all ages, gathered at the Exhibition Ground, Sector 34, today to witness the young singer weave his magic on the stage.

Wearing a diamond-studded necklace, he arrived at the venue around 8 pm, and opened up with fan-favourites, “Gangster” and “On Top”. Titled, ‘It Was All a Dream’, the live concert witnessed a crowd of over 20,000 fans. They were lip-syncing to his songs as Aujla sang all known and lesser-known songs from his albums, to name a few, “Kya Baat Aa”, “Winning Speech”, “2 AM”, “Jhanjar”, “Marjaani” and “Take It Easy”.

Aujla also spoke with the fans present at the venue. He said it only took an hour to cover the distance from his village, Ghurala, Ludhiana, to Chandigarh, but it took him 10 years to reach the City Beautiful. “Mein inne joga hai ni jinna tussin pyar ditta…ik gall kahunga tussin apne ma baap to bager kujh nahi ho,” he said, addressing the crowd.

The singer also dedicated a song, “Kache Makan Wale Yaar Jatt De” to his yaar-velli (friends). A fan brought a painting with Aujla’s face and a childhood picture of his parents. The singer interacted with him and also signed it, saying that he doesn’t deserve it. Overwhelmed with immense love shown by people, Aujla said, “Chandigarh Waleyon tussin tan swaad hi leya ta. Bhangra Paun nu ji karda e.”

Commuters inconvenienced

Despite 10 designated parking zones in Sector 34, multi-level parking in Sector 17, from where a shuttle service to the venue was in service, the general public was inconvenienced due to fans making a beeline for the venue. Fans from the adjoining cities and states thronged the Exhibition Ground. Chaos on the roads, including Piccadilly Chowk (34/35-21/22) and New Labour Chowk (33/34,20/21), inconvenienced students of coaching institutes and employees. The traffic diversion continued from 2:30 pm till the event finally started around 7:30 pm. The situation was not very different when the same crowd left the venue after the show.
