While the ‘Bharat Bandh’ call barely affected the residents of Panchkula, farmers associated with the Bharatiya Kisan Union, Charuni group gathered at the toll plaza at Chandimandir on Pinjore road and rendered it free of charge on Friday.

Other work in the city continued as per routine. Markets in the city continued functioning normally throughout the day without a sign of protest. Meanwhile, over 150 farmers parked their tractors and blocked the toll plaza on the Pinjore road, and vehicles were allowed to exit the toll plaza through only one lane on each side.

The farmers said that they had gathered at the site to hold a peaceful protest. They raised slogans against the Central Government and demanded a resolution to their long-pending demands.
