The district-level Independence Day celebrations saw enthusiastic participation, with Deputy Commissioner Dr Sona Thind hoisting the National Flag and along with SSP Subham Aggarwal. They took the salute from the contingents of Punjab Police, Home Guards and NCC cadets.

School children presented a cultural show while tableaus showcased the development of the district.

The DC highlighted the importance of Independence, saying, "Punjabis have made the biggest contribution in the struggle for the freedom of the country and it is our duty to remember the martyrdom of our great martyrs and to follow their footsteps." Gupta also honoured the outstanding, prominent personalities who achieved in their respective field, freedom fighters, police martyrs and prominent personalities. She also handed over sewing machines to widows and tricycles to persons with disabilities.
