The District Police claimed to have solved two murder cases and arrested three suspects. A woman had got her husband murdered in connivance with her paramour. In the second case, a son had killed his father suspecting that he was keeping a bad eye on his wife.
Addressing the media, SSP Subham Aggarwal said the police got information that a body was lying in the fields near the residence of SAD(A) leader Simranjit Singh Mann at Talania village. The deceased was identified as Surjit Singh, alias Soni, (46), a resident of Talania village. During the investigation, the police found that Surjit Singh, who used to work in Dubai, had returned home after four years.
The SSP said Surjit’s wife Balbir Kaur had allegedly developed illicit relations with Amar Nath, a driver. Surjit came to know about their relationship and tried to counsel his wife. Along with her paramour, she planned to eliminate Surjit Singh. As Surjit Singh went to his fields, his wife informed her paramour. Amar Nath and his accomplices murdered Surjit Singh. The SSP said the woman and her paramour had been arrested, whereas two accomplices of Amar Nath were at large.
In the second case, Jaswinder Kaur, a resident of Khanna, complained to the police that her father Sukhjinder Singh, a resident of Chanarthal village, was missing. She doubted her brother Ravinder Singh, who used to quarrel with Sukhjinder, for his disappearance.
The police arrested Ravinder and during interrogation he confessed to murdering his father along with his accomplices. The police recovered the body from Bhakra Canal.
