Festive season: 75 temporary parking facilities earmarked in Chandigarh

The UT Administration has decided to allow parking at nearly 75 temporary facilities across the city in government schools, community centres, dispensaries, temples, institutes and vacant grounds near major markets.

According to officials, the parking facility will be available from September 28 to October 21 (Diwali) and will be completely free of cost. The parking will be open to visitors after school hours and throughout the day on holidays, stated the officials.

To guide citizens, the Administration and the Municipal Corporation will install clear signboards at all such locations.

Traders asked to reserve parking for customers

Meanwhile, traders have also been directed to reserve the main parking lots of markets exclusively for customers.

As part of the temporary arrangement, 39 schools (government and private) will allow parking on their premises, in addition to 36 community centres, dispensaries, stadiums, temples and open grounds across the city.
