The Panchkula Police have arrested the fifth accused in a case involving a violent sword and stick attack on a youth in Kalka, bringing all accused in the case into custody. The latest arrest was made on October 5, with the apprehension of accused identified as Kamal Singh, alias Kartik, a resident of Parwanoo, Himachal Pradesh.
According to the police, on September 19, Rahul, a resident of Kalka, had gone to a chemist shop at Gandhi Chowk with two friends when a group of men attacked him with swords and sticks.
Earlier, four accused — Kushdeep, Harish, Vishal Kumar and Santosh Kumar — were arrested on October 3 and remanded in police custody for two days. The fifth accused was later traced and apprehended based on their disclosure. The weapons used in the attack had already been recovered.
All five accused have now been remanded to judicial custody. The police said strict action would continue against anyone involved in violence or antisocial activities in the district.
