File fresh report on sewage treatment, NGT directs Admn

After the UT Administration and the Joint Committee submitted contradictory reports on sewage treatment in the city, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Administration to submit a fresh action taken report before the next hearing in the matter.

The NGT stated that according to the report of the Joint Committee, samples were taken from eight sewage treatment plants (STPs) and high amount of faecal coliform was found at Diggian, Kishangarh, Raipur Khurd and Maloya units. The level of nitrogen was also found to be high.

The tribunal also pointed out that five tonnes of 500 tonnes of waste being generated in a day was not being processed.
