Filiberto-Aryan win tennis doubles title
In the ongoing M15 Chandigarh ITF World Tour Tennis Men’s $15K Prize Money Tournament being conducted by the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA) at the Sector 10 sports complex, Filiberto Fumagalli and Aryan Lakshmanan recorded a comeback win over SD Prajawal Dev and Nitin Kumar Sinha to win the title. The winning pair lost the first set 2-6, but bounced back in the next by logging a 6-4, 11-9 close win.
Earlier, in the men’s doubles quarterfinals, the pair of Filiberto Fumagalli and Aryan Lakshmannan defeated Parth Aggarwal and Rohan Mehra 6-0, 3-0 (conceded), while Sai Kartheek Reddy Ganta and Vishnu Vardhan ousted Kabir Hans and Atharva Sharma 7-5, 6-2. SD Prajawal Dev and Nitin Kumar Sinha defeated Sidharth Rawat and Yash Yadav 7-6(2), 6-0.

In the semifinals, top seed Jay Clarke defeated Australian Stefan Vujic 6-3, 7-6(3), while Korea’s Woobin Shin struggled hard to defeat Indian challenger Ishaque Eqbal. Shin won the opening set 3-6, just to bounce back in the next two sets 6-3, 7-6(2).
Top seed Britain’s Jay Clarke moved into the men’s quarterfinals by overpowering Indian challenger Abhinav Sanjeev Shanmugam in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. Madhwin Kamath ousted Kazakhstan’s Lomakin Grigoriy 6-4, 6-0, while Nitin Kumar Sinha also moved ahead by stunning 4th seed Dev Javia 6-4, 6-3. Australia’s Stefan Vujic defeated 6th seed Siddharth Vishwakarma 6-3, 6-3 and Manish Sureshkumar struggled a bit before recording a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win over Sidharth Rawat.
Earlier, Korea’s Woobin Shin moved into the final-eight by registering 6-2, 7-5 win over Kosovo’s Vullnet Tashi, while Ishaque Eqbal defeated Vishnu Vardhan 6-3, 6-2. Karan Singh faced a tough resistance before overpowering Rohan Mehra in the last match. After the points were levelled, Karan won the first set 7-6(2), but Mehra bounced back with a 3-6 verdict. In the final, Karan maintained a good form and logged a 6-1 win.
