The draw of lots was conducted under the supervision of the officials concerned. Approximately 500 street vendors were present during the draw of lots held on the MC office premises.

The draw was held in three categories – re-draw for those 349 vendors whose sites have been cancelled due to non-feasibility of sites, 417 street vendors who were not there during the draw of lots for the third phase and 263 street vendors who cleared their dues by November 30.

MC Commissioner KK Yadav said the civic body had cancelled the license of those NESP street vendors who failed to clear their dues up to November 30.

He also appealed to all non-essential service providers street vendors to shift to their allotted sites on or before December 5, failing which the MC would remove unauthorised vendors and confiscate their products besides initiating legal action against them.

A meeting regarding precautionary measures to be taken from December 6 to remove unauthorised vendors from no-vending zones was held in the conference room of the MC under the chairmanship of Yadav. It was attended by Deputy Commissioner Mandeep Singh Brar, UT SSP Nilambari Jagdale and other senior officials of the UT police and the MC. — TNS
