As many as 18 e-rickshaws parked at a charging station at Chhatbir Zoo in Zirakpur were gutted in a fire early morning today.

No one was injured in the accident though panic spread in the area for a while.

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot but before they could reach, most of the carts were destroyed. Only a few carts could be taken out as the entire shed with vehicles was in flames and smoke.

Staff members tried to control the fire but in vain. The exact cause of the fire is not known but officials are probing the incident.

Zoo officials remained tightlipped over the incident.
