Fire operator, driver job aspirants start half-naked march to PMO

Months after they met Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini over their recruitment issue, Haryana Staff Selection Commission’s CET Group-20 fire operator-cum-driver examination candidates started another protest march towards the Prime Minister’s office in New Delhi today. The job aspirants are holding a half-naked protest march from Panchkula to the PM’s office demanding their recruitment.

Over 150 aspirants started the protest march from the commission’s office in Sector 2 here. They carried posters demanding completion of the recruitment process on the way.

The state government had issued a notification for the examinations in 2020. The tests were conducted in November 2022 (prelims) and December 2023 (mains). The result was declared in February this year.

A protesting youth pointed out, “The HSSC had released the results of 850 candidates but left them for a review. It issued recruitment letters to only 238 applicants. Since then, we have been waiting for completion of the recruitment process.”

Yogesh, one of the aspirants said, “We had earlier held March from Panchkula to Karnal and met Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in May. He had assured us that the state will complete the recruitment process after

the code of conduct was lifted. It has been three months since the meeting was held and the state government has failed to complete the recruitment process.”

“We will submit our demands to the PM’s office,” another protester said.
