Fire substation set up in Sector 20 of Panchkula
Panchkula, February 3
A fire substation was today inaugurated at Sector 20 here today.
The sub-station had been a long-pending demand of sector residents, where high-rise buildings are located in a large numbers. Notably, the sector has over 200 group housing societies.
The building of local community centre will serve as the substation on a temporary basis in the absence of a separate facility. A hydraulic ladder fire truck, a normal fire tender and a motorbike fire tender would be deployed at the facility. Apart from this, the substation will have manpower of 12.
Kulbhushan Goyal, Mayor, Panchkula, said: “We had to start the fire station from a temporary building due to the pressing demands of area residents. A permanent facility will be built soon. The 42-metre hydraulic platform ladder will be helpful to initiate fire operations in high-rise buildings. The issue was taken up at first House meeting of the Municipal Corporation on January 27. It took us only a week to complete the agenda.”
