Firing near Chandigarh club: Seven-year RI for accused

A local court has sentenced Kanwaljeet, alias Kamal, to seven-year rigorous imprisonment in the case of firing outside the Score discotheque in Sector 8, Chandigarh, in 2015. The court acquitted the other three accused.

Three persons were injured when the accused opened indiscriminate fire at club-goers. According to the prosecution, the accused opened fire after a tiff with bouncers who asked them to leave the premises.

The bouncer, Surjit, told the police as they were closing the club, the accused demanded liquor. They got infuriated when the staff asked them to leave as the club was closed. One of the accused pulled out a gun from his car and began firing indiscriminately. Three persons were injured in the firing.

They fled the spot leaving their vehicle behind as they had misplaced the keys. The keys were later found inside the nightclub. The accused also took their car’s registration plates with them.
