A team of the UT animal husbandry and fishery department and the UT wildlife department visited the spot and took samples. Samples were sent to the zoology department of Panjab University for testing.

An official of the fishery department said similar situation was seen around two years ago also. Samples have been sent to the department to find out the reason and their species.

The official said they suspect during the full moon, some people as part of their “superstitious activities” throw fish in the lake at the night when the water was cold and the fish could not survive.
