Fog grounds one flight, delays 15

Even though the city witnessed clear weather today, the arrival and departure of the flights were delayed at Chandigarh International Airport today.

The poor visibility factor in the city during early morning hours grounded one flight and delayed arrival and departure of 15 other flights. Air India flight AI-464 from Delhi was cancelled as the flight did not depart from Delhi due to bad weather conditions.

Air India flight AI-9814 after arriving from Dharamshala could not depart back to Dharamshala due to delays caused by poor visibility. The flight arrived 1:21 hours late at Chandigarh at 10:51 am against the scheduled arrival of 9:30 am. Another Air India flight AI-817 from Nanded also arrived late by 2:46 hours at 11:43 am against the scheduled arrival of 9 am.

Air Asia I5-315 from Delhi had also delayed arrival at Chandigarh by 2:28 hours. It arrived at 3:08 pm against scheduled arrival of 12:40 pm. The same flight also departed late for Delhi by 1:36 hours late.

The other flight which arrived late by 1:21 hours at Chandigarh was GoAir flight G8-668 from Ahmedabad as it arrived at 12:46 pm against the scheduled arrival of 11:25 am. The same flight G8-667 also departed late from Chandigarh by 3:07 hours.

Another GoAir flight G8-913 from Srinagar also arrived late by 1:04 hours at Chandigarh at 4:04 pm against scheduled arrival of 3 pm. The same flight G8-914 also departed late from Chandigarh by 1:07 hours.

The flight operators alleged that many passengers had taken the refund but most of the passengers waited till the flights took off for their desired destinations. Flight operators claimed that non installation of ILS-CAT-III system was the main cause of delayed arrival and departures from the Chandigarh Airport.
