Foreign student dies in mishap in Kharar

Mohali: An engineering student of Chandigarh University died in a road accident in Kharar. Lesotho national Bohale Tsepo Solmon Ramokhosi’s bike hit a divider while turning towards Gharuan on Saturday night. Passersby noticed him the next morning and took him to a Kharar hospital from where he was shifted to the PGI, where he died on Monday. Institute officials had been informed and embassy contacted for further action. TNS

IAF Centre to be unveiled on May 8

40-year-old Man found dead at PGI

Chandigarh: A 40-year-old patient’s attendant was found dead under mysterious circumstances outside the new OPD of the PGI. Sources said the police got information about a man lying unconscious. The police later shifted the body to the mortuary of the GMSH-16. The victim was identified as Kailash of Karnal. An inquest proceeding has been initiated at Sector 11 police station. TNS

Homoeopathy Day observed

Chandigarh: Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Sector 26, celebrated World Homoeopathy Day on Monday on the occasion of 268th birth anniversary of Dr S Hahnemann. Former IPS officer RP Joshi, president of the Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital Association, was the chief guest. Dr Sunil K Sharma, vice-president and Prof Satish Dewan, secretary, also graced the occasion. The celebrations started with the lamp lighting ceremony by Joshi and Dr Ankit Dubey, principal. Youth held for burglary bid

Chandigarh: A 20-year-old youth has been arrested by the police for burglary bid. A resident of Palsora reported that a youth tried to steal a cylinder from her house. She raised the alarm, following which the suspect fled, leaving his motorcycle at the spot. The police were informed about the incident and a case under Section 453, 380 and 511 of the IPC was registered at the Sector 39 police station. Later, the suspect, identified as Sahil, alias Sucha, a resident of Sector 56, was arrested. TNS

Two held with stolen mobile

Chandigarh: Two persons, including a juvenile, have been arrested on the charge of snatching a mobile phone. A resident of Hallo Majra, who works at a petrol pump in Sector 28, reported that on April 9, he was returning home on bicycle. Two scooter-borne persons snatched his mobile and Aadhaar card near the Centra Mall. During investigation, Ritik, alias Ghola (22), of Phase-II, Ram Darbar; and a 16-year old boy were apprehended and the mobile phone recovered.
