Fortis Mohali performs robotic nipple‑sparing mastectomy to treat multiple breast tumours

The Department of Breast and Endocrine Surgery, Fortis Hospital, Mohali, successfully treated a 43-year-old woman suffering with multiple tumours in her breast, via Nipple-Sparing Mastectomy (R-NSM) with Implant Reconstruction Surgery, using the world’s most advanced 4th Generation Robot – Da Vinci Xi.

In a press release, Dr Naval Bansal, Senior Consultant, Breast and Endocrine Cancer Surgery, at Fortis Hospital Mohali, said, “Traditional mastectomy often leaves visible scars on the chest, which can be emotionally distressing for women. However, Nipple-Sparing Mastectomy leaves no visible scar. The technique allows quicker recovery, lower re-operative rates and better preservation of sensation compared to conventional surgery.”
