Four held after cordon and search op in Mohali
Launching a Cordon and Search Operation in line with the “Yudh Nasheya Virudh” campaign, the Mohali police arrested four persons and registered as many FIRs.
Deputy Inspector General DIG, Ropar Range, Harcharan Singh Bhullar who was present during the search operation along with Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Pareek, said today’s operation was launched at Shivjot Enclave, Kharar.
A team comprising a SP, four DSPs, 14 Inspectors/station house officers (SHO) and 250 NGOs/EPOs conducted the operation. He further said the area was dominated by tenants living in rented and paying guest accommodations. “A total four FIRs have been registered, two under the Excise Act and two under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (for non verification of tenants), wherein four persons have been arrested,” he added.
Besides, severn suspicious persons and four vehicles have been rounded up. As many as 48 bottles of liquor have also been recovered.
“Around 250 gram panchayats in Ropar Police Range passed resolutions to not to support drug traffickers besides taking pledge to make their villages drug-free,” the DIG said while interacting with the media.
The list, he added, contains 100 panchayats from SAS Nagar, 70 from Ropar and 82 from Fatehgarh Sahib.
