Four held for firing at house in Mohali village

The police arrested four men allegedly involved in firing nine shots at the house of a production house co-owner in a bid to extort money from him.

The incident took place in Tolemajra village of Kharar around 2.30 am on August 4. On the complaint of Sandeep Singh Sidhu, co-owner of Five Rivers production house, a case was registered at Sadar Kharar.

Those arrested have been identified as Fatehgarh Chudian resident Sukhmandeep Singh, 23, Amritsar resident Saroop Singh,30, Baba Nanak residents Abhishek Singh, 25, and Prabhjeet Singh, 24. One pistol, four empty shells, and a tempo used in the crime have also been recovered from them.

The police said the firing was done at the behest of Ekam Singh, currently residing in France, with an intention to extort money from them.

“No amount was cited and the firing was only to gain prominence in crime world,” Senior Superintendent of Police Harmandeep Singh Hans added.

The police said the masked youths fired two-three shots at the house and the main gate, while another hit an SUV, shattering the rear windshield.
