Patiala, December 17
The Water Supply and Sewerage Board is all set to build a four million litres per day (MLD) sewage treatment plant in Sanaur area of Patiala. It will be the first such plant in the area.
Rakesh Arora, Executive Officer, Municipal Council (MC), Sanaur, said a discussion on the matter with Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit, officials of Punjab Pollution Control Board and Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board was held.
The Sanaur area lacks a sewage treatment plant and much of the dirty water from the area flows into the Bari Nadi. A resident of Patiala had recently filed an RTI application and demanded information regarding an STP in the area from the MC.
In its reply, the office stated the area does not have sewage treatment services in the area. It said the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board had proposed to set up a four MLD capacity STP in the area.
