Four of Mauli village get life imprisonment for murder

A local court has sentenced four persons Anil, Karan, David and Deepak, all residents of Mauli village, Chandigarh, to undergo imprisonment for life in a two-year-old murder case.

The police had registered the FIR on December 31, 2022, under Sections 302, 307, 341, 506 and 34, IPC, and Sections 25/54/59, Arms Act, at Mauli Jagran police station on a complaint of Yogesh, also a resident of Mauli. He said that he was working as a scrap dealer.

On December 30, 2022, around 9.45 pm, his younger brother Ashish went to fetch milk from a booth near their house. After 15-20 minutes, he heard the scream of his brother and saw that three-four boys were attacking his brother on the main road with knives.

He added that when he rushed to save his brother, one of them said that “finish him also”.

Following this, Anil attacked him with a knife, injuring his hand and back, whereas his brother Ashish got injured seriously and fell down on the road in a pool of blood and became unconscious. People gathered at the spot and raised an alarm. Seeing the people, all accused fled the spot. While fleeing they threatened to kill him as well, he added.

A PCR vehicle reached the spot and took him and his brother to the GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh, where the doctor declared Ashish brought dead.

After investigation the police filed the charge-sheet against the accused. On the other hand, Hukum Singh, public prosecutor, argued that the prosecution had proved the case.

After hearing the arguments the court sentenced all accused to undergo imprisonment for life. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on each convict.
