Mohali, December 1
Four protesting members of the Temporary Teachers’ Union climbed on a mobile phone tower near Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s house in Kharar today.
Two women and two men climbed on the tower around 7 am and raised slogans against the Punjab CM and Education Minister Pargat Singh, demanding the regularisation of services and hike in salary.
The police reached the spot and tried to bring them down, but the protesters did not pay heed. Later, a meeting of the protesters with the department officials was arranged following which they came down in the afternoon.
Nishant Kumar of Kapurthala, Gurwinder Singh of Gurdaspur, Harpreet Kaur of Jalandhar and Ranjana Thakur of Hoshiarpur had climbed the tower.
The protesting teachers, who have been on a dharna outside the PSEB building in Mohali for over 170 days, said they had been suffering for the past several years. — TNS
