On the second day of the 19th Ashwani Gupta Memorial Badminton State Meet being played at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Sector 3 here, fourth seed Keshav Malik defeated Adhav Thakur 21-11 21-12 in the boys’ U-17 quarterfinals today. Akshay Machal defeated Pranav 21-1 21-2.

In the boys’ U-13 category, Hreeday Bansal defeated Suryaveer 21-8 21-7 and Hardik Tandon ousted 21-10 21-8. Abeer moved ahead by defeating Sehaj Thakur 21-5 21-11 and Arinjay beat Saket 21-12 21-5. In the semifinals, Bansal defeated Tandon 21-9 21-4 and Abeer logged a comeback win of 15-21 22-20 21-19 over Arinjay.

Subash Dhauja and MS Thakur defeated WC Goyal and Bhall 21-13 21-13 in the 75 years age group, while in the 70 years singles event, Sajpal defeated NK Sharma 21-2 21-9.

In the 65 years age group, S Avashti and RK Malik recorded a 21-17, 21-17 win over Vijay Bajaj and Nagesh Sharma, and the pair of 65 mixed doubles event, Nagesh and Bindu Sharma defeated Vijay Anand and Prem Sumra 21-13 21-12. In the 65 women’s doubles final, the team of Bindu Sharma and Prem Somra ousted Renu Abdi and Nirmal Kaliya 21-7 21-7.

In the 60 men’s doubles semifinals, Dinesh and Sandeep beat Devendra and Vinod 21-14 21-13, while Vijay and Trikha outplayed RC Gupta and Manoj 21-13 21-18. In the singles semis, Vijaya defeated Divesh Rana 21-7 21-7.
