France to study restoration of Le Corbusier heritage

France has agreed to send an expert appraisal mission to study the restoration of Le Corbusier heritage in Chandigarh.

In a written communication sent by Emmanuel Lenain, Ambassador of France to Manoj Parida, Adviser to Administrator, the dates for this mission have been indicated. The experts from the National School of Architecture of Paris –Belleville, the Le Corbusier Foundation and the Laboratoire de Recherche des Monuments Historiques (LRMH) will visit Chandigarh from February 3-9. They will be accompanied by representatives of the Embassy of France in India.

Regarding technical assistance on the conservation of furniture designed by Pierre Jeanneret, the cultural services and alliance franchise de Chandigarh are in discussion with the French Ministry of Culture. In this regard, experts are being identified and an appraisal mission dedicated to the restoration of the concerned furniture is likely to visit in March, 2020. — TNS
