The Union Territory Cricket Association (UTCA), Chandigarh, has announced the launch of the Chandigarh Premier League (CPL) 2025, a franchisee-based cricket tournament.
The meet will be played in the T20 format. It will start on August 28 and the final will be played on September 13. The league will feature six franchise-owned teams competing in 33 matches, including the semifinals and final.
Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria will inaugurate the league on August 26. Two matches will be played every day at the Sector 16 stadium.
The six franchise slots have been allotted on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring complete transparency in ownership, claimed the UTCA.
Altruistians, Capital Strikers, Chandigarh Kings, Dr Morepen Dazzlers, Panchkula Bashers and Talanoa Tigers will participate in the league.
Addressing the media, UTCA president Sanjay Tandon said the CPL was aimed at nurturing local cricketing talent while strengthening Chandigarh’s position as a hub of sports.
