In what could be good news that will help residents avoid making rounds of government offices, Chandigarh Smart City Limited is set to launch ‘single city, single app’ on April 1. The trial run will start next month.

The e-governance project will initially have few services, including online building plan approval, fire NOC, RTI, e-Awas, grievance monitoring, electronic human resource management system (e-HRMS) and other digital services of the civic body and the UT Administration.

“By October, all 28 services of the MC and UT departments will be there on this app. The mobile application will be put on trial in March. It will be launched on April 1 with some services,” said MC Commissioner KK Yadav.

The common mobile app will be a one-point complaint redressal platform in the city. It will also have services related to horticulture, water supply, sewerage connection, booking of community halls, birth and death certificate and the Chandigarh Housing Board.

The MC office will also be converted into an e-office where all its wings will provide online services. There is also a provision for integration of any other service with the e-governance system.

Residents will be able to download the app on Play Store after its launch. They will also be able to lodge complaints using this app. A call centre will also be set up to take feedback of the complainants.

Meanwhile, the Board of Directors of Chandigarh Smart City Limited will hold a meeting tomorrow to decide the setting up of a control and command centre in Sector 17.
