Fromer President Ram Nath Kovind kick-starts Plaksha varsity’s maiden convocation celebrations
The first day of Plaksha University’s two-day convocation celebrations witnessed a vibrant celebration of milestones and partnerships in Mohali on Friday.
The day began with the inauguration of the Usha Hasteer Auditorium, a state-of-the-art hub for intellectual exchange.
The focus shifted to global collaboration with the signing of an MoU between Plaksha University and Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma. The afternoon featured the inauguration of the Bharti Academic Building by former President Ram Nath Kovind, marking a cornerstone for academic excellence.
Kovind was accompanied by Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria. They spoke about the role of educational institutions in preparing the next generation of students to lead a world being changed by rapidly evolving technology.
Kovind also commended the role of private philanthropy in boosting education from primary education to higher education. The graduation ceremony of the founding cohort of Plaksha University will take place tomorrow. ISRO Chairman Dr V Narayanan, who will be chief guest on the occasion, will deliver keynote address at Usha Hasteer Auditorium.
Meanwhile, former President Kovind was accorded a warm welcome by Punjab and Haryana Governors at respective Raj Bhawans during his Chandigarh visit.
Kataria warmly welcomed Kovind at Punjab Raj Bhawan here, upon his arrival on Thursday late evening. On a two-day visit to Chandigarh, Kovind went to Haryana Raj Bhawan. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Kovind posted pictures of his meetings with the two Governors in Chandigarh. “Grateful to Governor of Punjab, Gulab Chand Kataria, for the warm welcome at Punjab Raj Bhawan during my visit to Chandigarh,” Kovind posted on X on Friday.
In another post, he wrote, “Grateful for the warm welcome at Haryana Raj Bhawan by Governor Prof Asheem Ghosh and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. In a touching gesture which I will cherish, Mitra Ghosh (Haryana Governor’s wife) tied a rakhi on my wrist,” Kovind added.
