Gang of thieves busted with arrest of three in Panchkula, stolen bikes recovered

Accused involved in multiple thefts, snatching and robbery incidents across Tricity

The police has arrested three habitual robbers involved in a series of theft and snatching incidents across the Tricity.

Sharing details, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Arvind Kamboj said a native of Shimla lodged had on October 8 lodged an FIR at Mansa Devi Police Station. He told the police that three bike-borne youths targeted him on Singhdwar Road, Panchkula, while he was headed to Shimla with goods. The three men attacked him with a sharp weapon and snatched his mobile phone before fleeing the scene. Following the incident, the police registered a case and began an intensive search for the culprits.

Taking cognisance of the seriousness of the case, Crime Branch-19 In-charge Mukesh Saini and his team began collecting leads and, acting on a tip-off, arrested the three accused.

The suspects were identified as Prakash Singh (son of Ram Bahadur Singh), native of Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, currently residing in Sector 19, Panchkula; Aman Mohan alias Bunny (son of late Manmohan), resident of Majra Mehtab village, Panchkula; and Sachin alias Munshi (son of Mahesh Gupta), native of Muradabad, currently residing in Manimajra — all aged around 27 years.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP, Crime) Manpreet Singh Sudan, the accused were presented before the court and remanded to two days’ police custody.

During interrogation, the police recovered the snatched mobile phone, the sharp weapon used in the robbery and the motorbike used during the crime. Additionally, four stolen motorbikes from the Tricity area were also recovered.

Preliminary questioning revealed that the three men had previously been involved in several cases of theft, snatching, and robbery in Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula. The accused had recently been released on bail and had resumed criminal activities soon after.
