Gangster Sonu Khatri’s aide nabbed with arms

In a joint operation, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab and Mohali Police apprehended Harjinder Singh, a key associate of foreign-based gangster Rajesh Kumar alias Sonu Khatri, at the Kharar bus stand today.

The police recovered three pistols—including two .32 bore and one .30 bore—as well as 14 live rounds from his possession.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated that the accused was wanted in connection with an armed attack on rival gang members at ‘Future Heights’ in Kharar.

Harjinder Singh was reportedly receiving direct instructions from his handler, Sonu Khatri, who is based abroad and was allegedly conspiring to carry out a high-profile crime in the state.

“His arrest marks a critical step in our sustained crackdown on gangster networks operating with cross-border linkages,” said the DGP, adding that further investigation is ongoing to unravel the wider network and establish both forward and backward linkages.

The AGTF, led by DSP Rajan Parminder, tracked the accused using human and intelligence inputs, locating him in the Kharar area and successfully apprehending him at the bus stand.

A case had already been registered under Sections 125, 194, 194(2), 296, 193(3), and 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, at Police Station City Kharar on 24 February.
