Chandigarh, August 6
In view of Covid-19, the MC has created a facility wherein a consumer can upload his/her water meter reading on e-Sampark mobile application or e-Sampark web portal.
“Based on the reading, we will be able to generate bills. Due to the pandemic, we were unable to send our staff for taking the meter reading and the bills were being generated on an average basis. With this facility, things will be different. Consumers have to fill the numbers on their water meter and post a picture of it,” said a senior MC official.
The facility has been developed by the Society for Promotion of IT in Chandigarh (SPIC), with support from the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology.
Mayor Raj Bala Malik and MC Commissioner KK Yadav inaugurated the application for uploading the reading of water meters.
The Mayor said android/IOS users could install the e-Sampark mobile application and thereafter, meter reading could be uploaded with its picture. “The details of the water account number are also required to be added. Those who have already downloaded the mobile application will be required to update the same,” she said.
She said this would enable the consumers to submit their water readings and reduce the complaints of excess/wrong billing.
The complete process for submitting the water readings is available on the website of corporation. The consumers should adhere to the instructions and water reading should be submitted only during the period when it is due, as is described on the website.
