To check the misuse of plastic, the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC) has directed all producers, brand owners, recyclers and manufacturers of plastic carry bags and plastic-allied items to register themselves with the committee within a month.

The Member Secretary, CPCC, said they were required to obtain registration from the committee under the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016. Failure to do so would invite legal action as per the provisions of law.
