Patiala, January 23
To improve hygiene among adolescent girls, the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Patiala, launched one of its flagship programmes, Mission Sanitary and Hygiene Education (SHE), here today.
In its pilot phase, teams of gynaecologists educated the students of Government Multipurpose School and Government Arya School about hygiene, nutrition and safe disposal of sanitary pads.
Teams of gynecologists also talked at length about all social taboos and asked the girls to feel secure about the menstruation process.
Meanwhile, the IMA plans to continue the mission with a community outreach programme in the slum of Taffazalpura on January 31. — TNS
