The police have booked three persons for allegedly attacking a Hisar resident and snatching Rs 11,000 along with a gold chain from him. Aayan Kajla had reported that Dilpreet Singh Sidhu, Jitender Singh and Vijay Singh thrashed him and snatched the chain and cash from him at Chandigarh Polo Club, Nayagaon. The police have arrested Vijay, a native of UP.

Punjabi Lekhak Sabha

The following have been elected unanimously as the office-bearers of the Punjabi Lekhak Sabha: president — Deepak Sharma Chanarthal, general secretary — Bhupinder Singh Malik, senior vice-president — Pal Ajnabi, vice-presidents — Gurmail Singh and Manjit Kaur Meet, secretaries — Sukhwinder Singh Sidhu and Simarjit Grewal, and finance secretary — Harminder Kalra.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
