Local golfer Mivaan Singh won the Chandigarh Golf Club’s annual flagship tournament — Chief Commissioner Cup. In an intense battle, Suing displayed exceptional skill and composure to overcome his formidable opponent, Siddharth Jain, who is also recognised as one of the promising players of the club. He claimed the title on his debut.

“I am happy to win the cup in my very first appearance at the tournament. The club has a rich history, and joining the esteemed list of past champions is a humbling experience. I dedicate this win to the spirit of the game and unwavering support from my family and friends,” said Singh.

Veteran Jeev Milkha Singh said, “Congratulations to Mivaan for his win. He is a talented player with a conduct of a gentleman. I wish him more success in future.”

Golf coach and winner of the Dronocharaya Award for golf, Jessie Grewal, also appreciated Singh. The cup has a significant history, with past winners imprinting their names in the records of golfing glory. The likes of Jeev (1986), Harmeet Kahlon (1989, 1992), Sandeep Sandhu (1994, 2013), Gurbaaz Mann (1998, 2000), and K Raghav Bhandari (2020, 2021, 2022) have not only brought accolades to the country, but have also contributed significantly to the prestige of the club.

Mivaan is the son of veteran rally driver Hari Singh, who is a five-time Indian National Rally champion and Asia Zone champion and is the council member of the Federation of Motor Sport Clubs of India.
