Golfer Sandhu wins Order of Merit award

In the recently concluded final event of 2024-25 AVT Champions Senior Golf Tour, Sandeep Sandhu of Chandigarh Golf Club pipped David D’Souza of Bengaluru to win the Order of Merit for the year.

The final year-end tournament was played at The Jaypee Greens Golf Club in Greater Noida. Before the start of the event, it was a close race for the title with Sandeep leading David by a single point.

On day one, Sandhu shot a 75 and David slipped with an average score of 79. Despite a cushion of four shots, the title race was still open. David in the past had come in with strong second rounds. As expected, he came up with a strong round of 73 but Sandhu didn’t let up and shot a round of 72 to take the title by 5 shots.

The number one and two in the Order of Merit have been representing the country at the Asia Pacific Senior Golf Championship and at the South Africa Senior Amateur Golf Championship. Next year, the winner will represent the country at The British Senior Amateurs Golf Championship in England.
