Local budding golfers Nihaal Cheema and Ojaswini Saraswat won accolades while representing the county in two different international tournaments.

Cheema concluded his US Tour in style by bagging a silver medal at the US Kids World Championship 2024 in Pinehurst. Of the 103 participants in the boys’ U-7 category, Cheema played consistent golf over three rounds with a total score of 107 to finish just two strokes behind the winner. Last year, he had claimed the fourth position in this championship (boys’ U-6 category). Cheema made India proud by securing podium finishes in three of the four championships he represented in over the past one month in the USA.

Meanwhile, 11-year-old Ojaswini claimed the second position in the World Championship 2024. She competed with 115 budding golfers and fought hard to score 18-under par with 25 birdies on the card. It was a close fight till 16th hole on the final day. However, she managed to get the best score in the girls’ category in the history of the US Kids Golf World Championship.
